Overview of Programs
Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation is currently engaged in the following programs:
- The building and sustainability of the school, The Hope Academy in Marshall, Liberia, West Africa for both girls and boys. This is a joint project in partnership with Hope 2 Liberia. The school, currently at roof level will prepare future women and men to avoid violence against others such as FGM/C and domestic violence. In addition, 5 miles from the campus of The Hope Academy, 8 acres of land has been earmarked and donated to build a girls’ dormitory to provide a home for the girls enrolled at The Hope Academy.
- The Global Woman Center, located in the Washington, D.C. Metro area serves as support for survivors and at-risk girls of female genital mutilation/cutting. This program provides a safe environment for women and girls, while also counseling, empowering, protecting and rehabilitating them. With permission of the school districts, the Center teaches the children about FGM/C through our Kids Reach Program to help train the school teachers and counselors on how to detect eminent dangers of FGM/C. A network of OB-GYN physicians working in collaboration with Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation to provide proper OB-GYN care through our Post-FGM Buddy Program, which includes FGM reconstructive surgeries.
2ND Annual 5K “Walk to End FGM”
Join us and “Walk to End FGM”! Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) is the intentional removal of the female genitalia for non-medical reasons. At least 5 girls are mutilated every hour in the world and 507,000 are at risk in the U.S.! Assemble on the Washington Monument Grounds on the Mall at 8:30 AM for the Pre-Walk Program.
