ANGELA M. PEABODY

Angela has worked as a humanitarian for most of her adult life, supporting the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the Tigerlily Foundation and several other non-profit organizations. The Liberian Journalist and Novelist is an accomplished and award-winning writer. She is the first Liberian woman to write and publish a full length novel. Her career has taken her to the corners of the earth, as she speaks out against female genital mutilation and other gender based violent acts. A highly sought after public speaker, Angela has spoken at Harvard University, George Washington University, Georgetown University, The University of Pittsburgh, Catonsville Community College, Saint Simon’s Island Festival and Making Poverty History Conference in London, where she shared the stage with 2 members of the House of Parliament. Angela is the former Chair of the Washington, D.C. Chapter of the National Writers Union and has served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of WomenBusiness Owners (NAWBO) and the Advisory Board of Tigerlily Foundation. Though Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation keeps Angela’s schedule very busy she continues her career as a Novelist. Her next novel, When the Games Froze is expected to be released in the December 2013.

Arnold DeShield also currently serves as the Controller of The Goode Companies, Incorporated. Arnold began his career at Chancellor Broadcasting Corporation as a Business Assistant. He later joined the staff at Radio One, Inc. as Assistant Business Manager for over seven years, later he was recruited by McKinley Marketing Partners, Inc. as their Manager of Finance and Accounting for the East Coast and Southeast Regions. Prior to that, he worked as Corporate Controller at On Top Communications. He brings many years of finance experience to the boardroom of Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation.
AMIE E. JALLAH

Ms. Jallah is a graduate of the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. with a Masters Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a certification in Health Care Administration. She is also a graduate of the Loyola College Management Training Program. She has an extensive background in the development and implementation of community outreach programs and has developed collaborative partnerships with many non-profits and Churches throughout the Washington, D.C. area. She is the former Executive Director of the Metropolitan Community Development Corporation a 501c (3) non-profit that aims to improve the quality of life for African immigrants and low-income residents in Montgomery County, Maryland, through programs and services that engage the community in meeting their own physical and emotional needs, and close gaps in education, health, income, and family well-being. She is currently a Program Director with City Gate, an urban ministry in Washington, D.C., seeking to open doors of opportunity and empowerment with primary focus on children and youth. Ms. Jallah is also one of the founders and a Director with the African Cultural & Resource Center which provides programs and services for African immigrants in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Currently, she is the Vice President and Co-founder of Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation.
Leila Nimatallah has two decades of experience leading and supporting campaigns impacting domestic and international policies and funding. She just finished a project for the Older Women’s League (OWL), spearheading economic security and healthcare advocacy for women 40 plus. Prior to OWL, she was Director of External Relations and Advocacy and the Director of the WeWillSpeakOut.US Program at IMA World Health, an international global health organization. Prior to IMA, Ms. Nimatallah worked to mobilize resources for GAVI, The Vaccine Alliance, where she served as a consultant and Senior Program Officer for Advocacy. In the years before GAVI, she was Policy Director at Global Action for Children, an advocacy organization working to improve child wellbeing, and Senior Legislative Associate for RESULTS, a nonprofit grassroots advocacy organization working to end the worst aspects of poverty. Early in her career, she also worked for two members of the U.S. House of Representatives. She received her bachelor’s degree from Boston College, and J.D. from Villanova University Law School. She is admitted to the Maryland, District of Columbia and Pennsylvania Bar Associations.
Arielle Buchmann is a Swiss- American journalist who is passionate about making this world a better place. She currently works as a multimedia web producer at the Washington, D.C. CBS news affiliate, WUSA9. Arielle left Switzerland to attend Alcorn State University in Mississippi on a full tennis scholarship. She pursued her dreams of becoming a journalist because she believed being in the media would allow her to bring awareness to the fight against female genital mutilation (FGM). Arielle hopes to continue globetrotting, empowering people and shining light on gender based violence. Arielle brings her media expertise to the boardroom of Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation.
Summer Pearson is a gifted singer and motivational speaker with a passion for making the world a better place. Mrs. Pearson worked as an attorney for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence for eight years. Currently, she serves as the Contemporary Worship Leader at Riverdale Church at University Park, and as a soloist and speaker for various corporate events, religious services, and weddings. Mrs. Pearson has a B.A. in Math from Emory University, and a J.D. from the University of Virginia. She is also a loving wife and proud mother of two boys.
Angela Spanu has over ten years in planning and budgeting and more than ten years of experience in customer service and account management. As an entrepreneur, Angela creates her own line of natural spreads, and her company sells products in the Whole Foods Market and other local stores in the Washington, D.C. Metro area.
Chelsia Bhatti is a native of Vancouver, Canada. She graduated as a physician from Kasturba Medical College in India, and has made her home in the United States where she continues her medical career. Chelsia has a special interest in the welfare and advocacy of women and children. She is currently the Secretary of Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation Board of Directors. Along with her fellow board members, she plans to utilize her skills to bring awareness to gender based violence and most importantly bring education and empowerment to women. In her spare time, Chelsia loves to read, cook, and spend time with her husband and family.
