On a beautiful clear and breezy day in Washington DC, renowned author Angela Peabody

held a book signing at the Gospel Spreading Book Store, located directly across from

Howard University Medical Center in DC. The event was held on March 15th from 11am-

2pm, where people got the opportunity to meet the author of her brand new book,

“When the Games Froze”. The story follows the life, trials and joys of Nana  Nkuku , who is

a hard working woman living in the United States, who has started a nonprofit

organization raising awareness for young girls in her native Ghana who are suffering the

tragedy of female circumcisions just like she did when she was their age. The story tells of

the dark underbelly of a society that is not much talked about or even known about in

much of the world- Female Genital Mutilation. Angela Peabody has made it her life’s

calling to raise her voice for young girls and women who face injustices across the world,

and especially in her native Liberia through the organization she has founded, Global

Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation.  What a privilege it was to be able to meet with Ms.

Peabody as well as others from around the world and city who attended the book signing

to discuss the book and the deplorable practice of Female Genital Mutilation which is

performed in various regions in the world.  Copies of “When the Games Froze” were

available for purchase, and personally signed by Angela Peabody. Those who attended and

purchased a book also received a small gift, compliments of Global Woman P.E.A.C.E.

Foundation. The excitement was palpable in the air, as the attendees were made aware of

the plans that Angela Peabody and Board Members of Global Woman P.E.A.C.E.  Foundation

have this coming year, to raise awareness and help eradicate gender based violence. Some who

attended the event were not even aware of Female Genital Mutilation until they had read the book,

and they were inspired to take action and help with the plight for women and young girls. If you

happened to miss the opportunity for the meet and greet with Angela Peabody, keep an eye out for

her next book signing coming to a bookstore near you or contact Global Woman P.E.A.C.E.

Foundation to find out when and where the next event will be. “ When the Games Froze” is a must

read! If you don’t have a copy, you can purchase it directly from

www.GlobalWomanPeaceFoundation.org, Amazon, or bookstores like Barnes & Noble. Don’t forget

to bring your book along to the next book signing to get it personally signed by Angela Peabody.
