In the final edition of our newsletter in the year 2015, we take this opportunity to extend our sincere gratitude to you for the support you have given Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation this year. We use this special edition to review 2015 and take a peek into our 2016 plans.
A Synopsis of 2015
- We began the year in January by becoming an Affiliate of George Mason University, Arlington
- We launched our Internship Program with students from George Mason University
- We observed the International Day of Zero Tolerance on February 7th with the showing of the film, Moolaade
- In March, we addressed the Virginia State Board of Education in a brief about our cause, female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C)
- We appeared on Al Jazeera USA and Washington CBS Affiliate, WUSA Channel 9
- We opened the Global Woman Center in the summer
- Early in the fall, we launched our Ambassadorship Program with four ambassadors
- We received a musical gift in October when Julliard graduate and singer, Kristin Hoffmann composed and recorded a special anthem for Global Woman P.E.A.C.E.
- We hosted our second Walk to End FGM on October 31st with four dynamic speakers
- We honored our first eleven award recipients on October 31st
