Year-in-Review

Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation

Wishes you a

Happy upcoming New Year!

We take this time to thank all of you our supporters, for helping us have a successful 2017.  We thank you for making it possible for us to achieve some of our goals this year.  We still have several goals for 2018, so please continue your support in the coming year.  In this Year-in-Review edition, we decided to speak with some of our FGM survivors and asked them to share with you their year with Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation.

“I am F.A. Cole, and I have benefited greatly from the services provided by Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation. Not only have I received an award from this outstanding organization for my activism work against female genital mutilation, (FGM) I have been privileged to volunteer at one of the their Walks and just three (3) months ago, they sponsored me to have clitoral reconstruction surgery – the first woman.

At age eleven, (33 years ago) I forcibly underwent FGM and through divine connection, Ms. Angela Peabody and I met, and it’s been like a mother-daughter relationship since. Ms. Angela truly cares for and about the survivors of FGM, and her organization has been a blessing, not just to me but many like me.

If it had not been for her, Global Woman P.E.A.C.E Foundation and their donors, I would not have been #ReUNITeD with my clitoris (new toy as I call her).

That said, I would like to say a huge ‘Thank You’ to Global Woman P.E.A.C.E Foundation and their donors for the wonderful work they do. May God richly bless you.  From my heart to yours, I wish you an amazing and favor-filled 2018.”

“This year’s Global Woman P.E.A.C. E. Foundation Walk to End FGM, was exciting and very successful, because of the many partners, activists, survivors, health practitioners and the community representatives who attended. I had an opportunity to speak about the importance of the mental health of the FGM survivors and how important it is for the survivors to step up and speak about FGM. As one of the survivors, it is always very traumatizing when we encounter with triggers that make us remember the pain that we went through in the name of culture. The pain of knowing that our family members and those who we love betrayed us when we were still young, and were not able to make rightful decisions pertaining to our bodies.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation for their commitment in educating the communities about FGM and the negative effects it has on young girls and women. I also applaud them for helping the survivors in the process of healing both physically (through the reconstructive surgeries), emotionally and psychologically. I wish the organization the very best in their future plans.”

“Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. is a Foundation that fights for women rights, and is the voice for women who cannot speak for themselves, the young, and the old that have gone through the violence of Female Genital Mutilation. Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation has created an awareness to help fight current cutting, and to put an end to Female Genital Mutilation practice. They specialize in services that help women deal with the reality of what has happened to them as children, and how to cope with daily life as a victim of FGM. The Executive Director of Global Woman P. E. A.C. E Foundation is a phenomenal woman. She always goes above and beyond to take the time, and the patient to help you get through whatever is it that you are going through, including the emotional part of dealing with Female Genital Mutilation, and by helping you gain your confidence back.  I am very thankful to work with this amazing organization. Because of Global Woman P.E.A.C.E Foundation, I can now share my story with the world, and help impact other women who are going through the same or similar situation.  I feel truly blessed to be a part of an amazing journey in uplifting the inner souls of women, and to make them feel beautiful from within.  Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!!”

“Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation has been my second family since my encounter with the team. It’s my home away from home and the organization has crossed my path with some of the most wonderful young women who have turned out to be my very good sisters. Since being involved with the organization, it has served as my safe haven. It is one place I know I can voice out my opinion and let my voice be heard without fear.

It has served as a platform for so many young women to be at the forefront and leaders in the achievement of gender equality and women empowerment. In addition to this, they have and continue to give so many women around the world a second chance in life, stay with, and support them through their journey to growth and empowerment.

The organization also serves as a learning tool for myself, its members, and the general public. It has broken so many barriers to women empowerment, and has made it possible for women and girls to receive the education they need to develop themselves and be able to grow in their respective communities.

Being passionate about what the organization does and my interest in women empowerment, I definitely couldn’t have asked for a better family to be part of and work together to address some of the issues faced by women. To many more years of successes, Happy New Year to Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation.”
