Foundation. Not only have I received an award from this outstanding organization for my activism work against female genital mutilation, I have been privileged to volunteer at one of their Walks and just 2 years ago, they sponsored me to have the restorative surgery – the first woman they have sponsored for the surgery. At age eleven, (34 years ago) I forcibly underwent FGM and through divine connection, Ms. Angela Peabody and I met, and it has been like a mother-daughter relationship since. Ms. Angela truly cares for and about the survivors of FGM, and her organization has been a blessing, not just to me but many like me. If it had not been for her, Global Woman P.E.A.C.E Foundation and their donors, I would not have been #ReUNITeD with my hooha.
